Information About the Company "Not Just A Dance Class...But An Experience To Cherish"
We will be celebrating our 10th Annual Dance Recital this year. We continue to strive to give our youth an opportunity to find that special part of themselves through the art of dance. This program is designed to build character, enhance self-esteem and enforce discipline. This is a great environment to create new friendships for students and parents.
Accomplishments for this past Dance Season have been Rewarding and Great for the Students and Parents.
In August 2003, our students had an opportuniity to participate in a Workshop with one of the most well-known choreographer in the HipHop "Culture", Fatima (who has choegraphed for famous Artists such as "R Kelly", "Monica", BET Award shows and more). It was a very exciting experience for the students.
In Septmber 2003, we had Ms. Tonya McClure, who has worked in many Dance Companies in the Atlanta Metro Area to join our staff. She has also performed all over the country including spending a summer with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in New York.
In December 2003, at our Annual Dance Performance for our Family and Friends, we able to intrigue the producer of the Show "The Chocolate Drops". Our dance company as well as highlights from the dance performances was featured on their TV program. The parents and students were excited about being on TV during the Christmas Holiday.
In February 2004, we opened performing one of our Competition Routines for the Big Community play "The Cruise Ship Of Zion".
In March 2004, we kicked off our first Competition. We received Six Gold Awards and Two Silver Awards. One of our Competition routines was acknowledged for being in the Top Ten Highest Scores competing for their age group on that day. In March 2004, we provided the Dance Entertainment for a Pagent hosted by the Eastern Stars and the Mason, who's Master of Ceremony was the "Magicman" from V103.
In April 2004, we had an opportunity to provide the Entertainment for Porshe Foxx's Annual Child Abuse Rally held at Jesse Davis Park. She is also a well-known radio personality for V103 "the Big Station".
In May 2004, we participated in our last Competition for that year. Accomplishments are listed below.
In June 2004, we Performed "Get On Your Feet" at Chapel Hill High School, we were able to let go and let loose. We had a standing room only crowd until the end of show.
In August 2004 a year later, our Advance Levels are preparing to attend a workshop with Ms. Vanessa Banks, who also has a background of dancing in videos with Mary J., L.L.Cool J and appeared in movies such as Stomping At the Savoy and more.
The staff at A.D. West Dance Company will continue to look for ways to improve our process and prepare our students for opportunities that "shall" await them.
We also promote a Scholarship Program for Graduating Students that have attended the A.D. West Dance Company for 3 consecutive years preceeding the 12th grade with an over all GPA of 3.0. or higher. We support education and higher learning.
We perform two shows a year during Christmas and in the Spring. We also make special appearances in Community and Church programs throughout the year.
